In update 1.1.2, Bungie made some big changes to the Crucible that will affect the way we play. Even though this update was a couple weeks ago, I wanted to take some time to play and experience it so I could come up with some good tips on how you can become better at the new Crucible. This new way has definitely changed how I play, here is some new tips to keep in mind:

Skirmish Points:

  • You can no longer commit suicide and be revived for points (bummer right?).
  • Every time you are revived, it will take longer for you to come back each time. (5 seconds for every revive)

Crucible Bounties:

  • The bounty “stopping power” only requires you to get shotgun kills instead of shotgun spree’s (15 to be exact).
  • The bounty “target practice” requires you to get 15 hand cannon kills instead of shotgun sprees (15 again)
  • The bounty ‘electricutioner” requires you to get 15 fusion rifle kills instead of fusion rifle sprees (15 kills).

Less Bullets:

  • All special ammo crates and heavy ammo crates now have count down timers on them. Special ammo spawn every 2 minutes and heavy ammo now spawns every 3 minutes.
  • You cannot pick up special ammo from dead guardians.
  • You receive less special ammo from crates now (it went down from 50% to 25%).
  • It takes a tiny bit longer to pick up special ammo. Also, make sure you are looking at it.
  • Huge ammo pick up radius increase from 20 to 100 meters.
  • There are less special ammo crates on the map.
  • Your heavy and special ammo will despawn if you die or special ammo will disappear in 20 seconds and heavy ammo will disappear in 30 seconds.

  • You can now see in the bottom left hand corner of your screen who picked up the heavy ammo.
  • Heavy ammo spawn warning will warn you 15 second earlier.
  • You can now switch weapons while you are dead and preserve some of that ammo.

Overview from My Experiences:

  • Having less ammo causes you to reevaluate what you’re going to do. I found myself hardly using my special weapons until I really had to.
  • Watch your map and make sure that your teammates get some of that special ammo. Teams that win use teamwork and the special ammo is scarce. Don’t be that one guy who takes all of the ammo for themselves.
  • If your team is defending one side of the map, go over to the other side of the map and steal the other team’s special ammo. They will hate you.

Keep these tips in mind and I am sure you guardians will do just fine. Remember that tomorrow, April 28th, the Iron Banner is back!
